To search for active Merit Badge Counselors:
(Please note that this tool is available only to registered adult leaders. As per BSA advancement policies, Scouts should contact their Scoutmaster or designee to start a merit badge and select a counselor.)
- Login at Scoutbook.com (any leader may login and access this tool with your my.scouting.org credentials, even if your unit does not use Scoutbook)
- Click My Dashboard
- Click your Unit to access your Unit’s page
- At the bottom of the page, click MB Counselor List
- Choose the badge(s) you wish to search
- Search by First Name, Last Name, or Zip Code if desired
- Select Proximity and Availability
- Click Search
- Contact information will be included in search results
To register as a new Merit Badge Counselor:
- Complete Youth Protection Training (If simply adding badges or if already a registered leader with your unit or if you have a current YPT, this step is NOT required; YPT is already on file)
a. Login at my.scouting.org
b. Click the Youth Protection graphic in the top right corner
- Complete Merit Badge Counselor position-specific training
a. Login at my.scouting.org
b. Click Menu
c. Click My Training
d. Click Scouts BSA
e. Click Merit Badge Counselor Training
f. Complete all modules therein (SCO_471, SCO_472, SCO_474, SCO_486)
- Complete the BSA app online at https://my.scouting.org/VES/OnlineReg/1.0.0/?tu=UF-MB-082ws43
a. If not already a unit leader, complete a NEW application
b. If already a unit or district leader, complete a MULTIPLE application
- Complete MBC Information Form at https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34405.pdf.

To register as a Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Counselor:
- Complete steps 1-3 above
- Complete Diversity Equity Inclusion online training
a. Login at my.scouting.org
b. Click the box labeled “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Scouting Volunteer Training”
c. Complete all modules therein (SCO_1800)
- Review Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Counselor Guide (contact wsdmeritbadge@gmail.com for a copy)
- Complete Citizenship in Society-specific MBC Information Form (contact wsdmeritbadge@gmail.com for application)

- Complete Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Counselor training (by invite only, after completion and MB Dean approval of Steps 1-4, currently hosted on Zoom or in person by Districts or Council)
