SAG-AFTRA Washington Mid-Atlantic Local Business Representative Jess W. Speaker, III received the George Meany Award last Thursday. Speaker is the founding Cubmaster of Pack 1683 in Springfield, VA, an Assistant Roundtable Commissioner, member of Actors’ Equity Association since 2001 and Business Representative for SAG-AFTRA since 2014. Speaker (right) was nominated for this award – which recognizes union members who have made a significant contribution to the youth of their communities by volunteering in the programs of the Boy Scouts of America — by the NOVA Labor Federation with the support of both AEA and SAG-AFTRA. He’s also a Merit Badge Councilor for the American Labor Merit Badge and in 2016 was responsible for working with one third of the youth who earned that Merit Badge in the National Capital Area Council.
