GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES!!!!!
Please bring your car and spend a fast-paced day full of fun, racing, and awards at this year’s district derby!!
Eligibility: ONLY the fastest car from each pack for LIONS, TIGERS, WOLVES, BEARS, WEBELOS I, WEBELOS AOL, Den Chief, Parent/Adult, and Cub Scout aged siblings are eligible to participate. In addition, each pack can send one car to participate in the appearance competition (maximum of 10 cars per Pack). Cars race by RANK Level, not by Boy or Girl Dens.
Parents, sponsoring adults, leaders, friends, guests, and others are welcome on race day.
Awards for Top Racer for each scout rank – Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos I & AOL and overall district.

All cars must comply with the 2017 White Oak District Pinewood Derby Builder’s Guide (still effective for 2019).
There will also be an opportunity to win the “White Oak District Derby Cup” awarded to the pack with the fastest average times (LION, TIGER, WOLF, BEAR, WEBELOS I, and WEBELOS AOL racers. ONE level may be dropped from participating, but all remaining levels **MUST** be entered and present for a Pack to be eligible.
Den Chief, Parent, and Sibling cars are a separate class of cars and are not eligible for the “Scout Rank” awards nor their times applicable for the District Cup. See White Oak District Pinewood Derby Builder’s Guide for details!
Scouts – be sure to wear your uniform!
Scouts who are not able to attend the race on Saturday because of Religious Restrictions may have another Scout bring their car to the race.
DATE: – Saturday, March 23, 2019
PLACE: – Col E. Brooke Lee Middle School: 11800 Monticello Ave,
Silver Spring, MD
TIME: – Set up 9:30 am – 11:00 am. Adults in the set up crew
– Check-in & Inspection between 11:00 am – 12:30 pm.
Please arrive on time!
– NO CARS ARRIVING AFTER 12:30 WILL BE PERMITTED
ENTRY INTO THE RACE
– Racing begins at 1:00 pm
COST: – Registration fee is $8 per Cub Scout Entry, $4 for Den Chiefs,
sibling and adult entries. There is no cost to just observe the
race. Encourage your pack to come out and cheer for your
pack!
– Registration and payment is **ONLY** online.
There is *NO* “at-the-door” payment option.
– Registration will absolutely close on Wednesday, March 20,
2019 at 11:00 pm EST.
Each participating pack is required to provide one adult volunteer to assist with race day activities. This parent needs to arrive at the established set up time at 9:30 am and stay until the cleanup is completed after the event. Please provide their name and contact information in the registration process. We may contact the volunteers to assign specific duties.
PACK LEADERS / CUBMASTERS: Please provide your competing Scouts and their parents or sponsoring adults a copy of the White Oak District Pinewood Derby Builder’s Guide and have a discussion with them that they must agree to abide by the rules therein.
CHECK-IN-ACTIVITIES: After your Scout has checked their car in, there will be additional activities and games to keep them engaged till racing begins.
FOOD: There will be a snack bar available, but NO FOOD OR DRINK is allowed inside the gym.
