Provisional and unit-crew slots are still available on all contingents. For a unit-crew application, click here. For provisional youth and adult advisor applications, click here and here. 2018 NCAC Northern Tier Provisional Opportunity: NCAC is sponsoring a 2018 Bissett crew for 11 nights with yet to be determined dates in July. The estimated cost including float plane access is $2400 per person. For provisional youth and adult advisor applications, see 2018 NT Provo Application and 2018 NT Provo Advisor Application. 2018 NCAC Northern Tier Special Note No. 1: Sign-ups for Northern Tier’s summer canoeing in 2018 are already way ahead of schedule, so get your reservations in as soon as possible. This Bissett trek (Manitoba) is the most remote of the three NT bases, so it is not recommended for first-time high adventure trekkers. No roads, no resupply, just you and your Scouting skills for 10 nights in the wilderness. Like seeing next to no one on the trail? Then this is the trek for you!
2018 NCAC Northern Tier Special Note No. 2: Please remember we also have a provisional opportunity for Northern Tier’s Okpik winter camping program. Dates are either Dec 27 2018 – 1 January 2019 or Dec 29 2018 – 3 Jan 2019. As NCAC’s inaugural trek, estimated cost is about $1400/person. After training and an overnight in Ely, spend three nights in the wilderness before returning to base. Treks involve cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or hiking across the frozen lakes and perhaps a quick mush with a team of sled dogs. Learning how to camp and thrive in sub-zero temperatures. Serious bragging rights with this trek!
2018 NCAC Northern Tier Special Note No. 3: Very limited space is still available for 2017 treks, and the lottery for 2018 summer canoe treks and 2017 Okpik winter treks was already held. Call the Northern Tier Registrar for remaining availability if interested. Questions on either Northern Tier summer canoeing or Okpik winter camping should go to Craig Reichow at email@example.com or 703-478-0660.
