Training Opportunities

Whether you have served as a Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Venture Crew President, or in another role, or are thinking about ways you can serve your unit, solid training will help make you a stronger leader.  Want to get the basics, or learn more about overcoming your toughest leadership challenges?  Join us for an official BSA training activity.

Den Chief Training

During Powhatan District Den Chief Training, you will learn the necessary skills to lead and befriend Cub/Webelos Scouts. You will have fun, learn leadership skills, play games and participate in activities that help you understand your role in the weekly den meetings. Are you a Den Chief?  Want to be One?  You will benefit from this activity-packed training event.

Leave No Trace Training

NCAC will be offering 5 Leave No Trace Trainer courses and 1 Leave No Trace Master Educator course in 2019. The LNT Trainer course is offered to train adults and youth aged 14+ to serve their units and districts as Leave No Trace Trainers and as Outdoor Ethics Guides. The LNT Master Educator course is 5 days (split over two weekends) and trains Scouts and Scouters ages 18 and up who have taken the LNT Trainer course to serve as Leave No Trace Master Educators.These courses are instructed by nationally designated Leave No Trace Master Educators and Trainers.

Outdoor Ethics

Every Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, Venturing, and Sea Scout unit should have at least one Leave No Trace/Outdoor Ethics Trainer. Both adult leaders and Scouts can get the necessary skills and build confidence in teaching Leave No Trace skills by taking the Leave No Trace Trainer Class and Outdoor Ethics Orientation Class.
