An Amazing Scouting Adventure

September 28-30, 2018 – Powhatan District Scouts hit the ground running this program year, with an adventure filled weekend camporee featuring our own version of the Amazing Race!

With the largest group assembled in recent years, Patrols spent their morning traversing the globe – solving Scouting-themed challenges all the way from Canada to Kenya and beyond. Following a spectacular vintage plane airshow, the competition continued with a patrol vs patrol scavenger hunt. With the coveted Powhatan Cup at stake, patrols from across Powhatan did their best to earn the greatest number of miles en route to the weekend’s prize.

Activities, including overnight camping for Scouts and Webelos, a truly amazing race, merit badge clinics, outdoor cooking and Saturday night campfire, demonstrated the full fun and spirit of Scouting. It also provided an opportunity for Scouts to meet others outside their unit, make new friends, and discover friends from school they did not even know were Scouts!

Don’t worry if you or the Scouts in your unit missed this year’s fall camporee/webelos-ree, the next one is just 11 months away! Can’t wait? Get in on the fun and camaraderie early by joining the planning committee. The 2019 planning team will reach out for volunteers before too long. Watch the Powhatan press for the announcement.
