Now that Philmont has closed for summer 2018,  and if nothing less than “Scouting Pardise” will do, consider:

Local High Adventure Bases – CO Vicinity:

There are several Council-run High Adventure Bases in CO. Availability may be limited. Benefit for NCAC crews is the DEN plane ticket you already have with your name on it.

SOAR Adventure Camp, Western Colorado Council, Gypsum CO

Program for displaced Philmont crews include 3- and 4-day treks, day hikes with summits to 14,000’+, shooting sports, rappelling, and an offsite ropes/zipline course

Yellowstone High Adventure Outpost, Camp Buffalo Bill, Casper WY

Many good reviews of this base near Yellowstone Nat’l Park. Prep and supplies same. Trek is shorter (5 days) but can extend by touring Y’stone for a few days.

A former Nat’l HAB, Maine offers canoeing, backpacking the 100 Mile Wilderness, and climbing the infamous Mt. Katahdin.
