Day Camp (July 8 – 12)
|June 6, 2019|
Hello Fellow Patriot Scouters!
We are now just about a month away from the start of the 2019 Patriot District day camp! We’re going to have another exciting camp filled with lots of fun scouting activities. I’m happy to say that at last check we had over 130 scouts registered for camp (there’s still time to register). As you can imagine, it takes a lot of hard work to make the camp happen and we are grateful to the scouters who have already stepped up and especially to all the den walkers who will be coming out. However, we still need some help to round out our staff and make everything run smoothly. Please take a look at the list below and if you can assist please contact me as soon as possible.
Slingshot station – Thursday and Friday (no certifications needed)
Climbing wall – all week (can serve as either the climb master with proper certification or an assistant)
First Aider – at least one day which can be flexible to fit your schedule (need to have certifications)
Additionally, we still need help from our Scouts and Venturers. Currently only 4 scouts have expressed interest in helping out and we really need about 20 per day to fully staff up. Scouts receive lunch each day and for scouts who work the entire week, there will be some compensation options. We generally are looking for scouts (both male and female scouts are welcome) who are 14 years or older, but we can make exceptions for scouts who show a good maturity and ability to work with Cub Scouts. If they are interested in helping out, please have them sign up at:
We also need help to set up the camp. We will be working on setting up stations, clearing trails and general camp set up from 8am to 12pm on Saturday, July 6. Scouts and Scouters are welcome and if we get enough volunteers, we might even do a pizza party afterwards!
Finally as a reminder to all packs and attendees of camp. Paperwork for each scout is due no later than June 17th. If we do not receive paperwork for a scout, they will not be allowed to attend the camp. You can make arrangements with me to drop it off or we will be holding a paperwork evening on June 17 from 7pm-9pm at the Oaks Community Center (5708 Oak Leather Dr. Burke, Va). Camp staff will be there to accept and check forms so please feel free to drop by. If you absolutely cannot turn it in by the 17th, please contact me ASAP.
Thank you and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone at camp.
