Transportation

Units may take advantage of the Goshen Bus(es) chartered by the Council or provide their own transportation.

From the DC area:
66 West to 81 South
81 South to Exit 225
Merge right onto Hwy 262
After about 5 miles take the exit on the right for Hwy 254 West (it comes up a little fast)
Turn right onto 254/42 towards Goshen.
Stay straight for about 20 miles and then take a left on to 39
After about 3-4 miles take a left on to hwy 601
After about a ¼ mile you will see the big Goshen Scout Reservation sign on the right!

Goshen Bus

Quick Facts

  • All tickets are round trip and must be reserved.
  • Units are expected to provide at least one adult to ride on the bus with their campers. (Provisional campers are the exception.)
  • Units purchase seats and rosters are not necessary.

Bus Pick-up Day (going to camp)

  • Saturday pick-up: Bowman (All Weeks) & Marriott (Weeks 2, 3, 4, & 5)
  • Sunday pick-up: PMI (All Weeks), Ross (All Weeks), Olmsted (All Weeks) – units & provisional campers, Lenhok’sin (All Weeks), & Marriott (Week 6) – units & provisional campers.

Bus Pick-up Locations & Times

  • Largo Plaza, 10530 Campus Way S., Largo, MD
  • Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA
  • Please arrive between 9:15-9:45am to drop-off campers and check-in, unless otherwise notified.
  • Buses depart after 10am and arrive in Goshen after 1pm.

Bus Drop-off Day (returning from camp)

  • Saturday drop-off: All Camps, All Weeks

Bus Pick-up Locations & Times

  • The locations for drop-off are the same as for pick-up.
  • Please arrive by 10am to pick-up campers, unless otherwise notified.
  • Buses depart Goshen by 7am and arrive between 9:45-10:15am.

ATV Program

The ATV program is offered at the Camp Post location and is available to all three Boy Scout Camps: Bowman, Marriott, and Olmsted.

Come ride ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) this summer at Goshen Scout Reservation!

The program runs from 2:00pm – 5:00pm Monday through Thursday. Dinner is provided. Scouts complete a safety course before embarking on a week of excellent fun and adventure, involving circuit courses, mud pits, and trail riding.

Riders must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the program. It is recommended that they be strong enough to handle a 300-600 pound machine.

Required equipment:

  • Long sleeve shirts
  • Pants that cover the shins
  • Boots that cover the ankles
  • Water bottle

Recommended equipment

  • Bandana

Gloves, goggles, and helmets will be provided but participants are free to bring their own.

COPE

COPE is offered at the Camp Post location and is available to all three Boy Scout Camps: Bowman, Marriott, and Olmsted.

COPE is an acronym for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience. The program is a series of initiative games, trust events, low elements, and high elements that challenge on an individual and group level. The concept of “challenge by choice” encourages each person to participate fully while maintaining the right to opt-out of an individual part of the program.

The program is designed for older Scouts (ages 14 and up) and Venturers. COPE is offered Monday through Friday at two times – from 9:00am to 11:50am and from 2:00pm to 4:50pm.

Climbing

The Climbing program is offered at the Camp Post location and is available to all three Boy Scout Camps: Bowman, Marriott, and Olmsted.

The Goshen Climbing Program centers around our 60-foot tall climbing and rappelling tower.

During the day, we offer four sections of Climbing Merit Badge – 9:00am, 10:30am, 2:00pm, and 3:30pm. All sections are 1 hour and 20 minutes. Climbing Merit Badge is recommended for those ages 13 and above.

On select evenings, the tower is opened up for Open Climb. All ages are welcome, as long as you fit in a harness!
