Northern Tier High Adventure Bases

2019 NCAC Provisional Treks to Northern Tier—Bissett

Northern Tier is the Boy Scouts of America’s gateway to adventure in the Great Northwoods. In the Summer, scouts from Northern Tier’s three wilderness canoe bases explore millions of acres of pristine lakes, meandering rivers, dense forests and wetlands in Northern Minnesota, Northwest Ontario and Northeast Manitoba. In the winter, Northern Tier is home to the OKPIK Cold-Weather Camping program, the BSA’s premier winter high adventure program. Fall programming is also available.

Inaugural trek planned for July 2017

In July 2017, National Capital Area Council first offered a provisional crew to Bissett, Manitoba, the wildest and most remote of the three Northern Tier locations. This trek iss expected to mix both experienced high adventure trekkers with those newer to high adventure.

The cost for the trek in 2019 is expected to be approximately $2,450. Airfare and Canadian exchange rates may impact the final cost. For more information, contact our Council’s program liaison, Craig Reichow via email.

Interested youth should complete the 2019 Northern Tier Application as soon as possible. A $700 deposit, plus completed forms will hold each reservation for this provisional crew opportunity. Once we have filled 12 youth and four adult slots, we will lock in reservations.
