Training

Chain Bridge’s Training Promise:
Chain Bridge District’s Training Committee is responsible for helping to train you, our adult volunteers, in the principles and methods of the BSA. We aim to give you the knowledge and resources needed to ensure that you can deliver a safe, high-quality program.  Whether it be for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, or Venturing, having a number of well-trained adults available with current BSA certifications for your programs is not just a ‘check the box’ exercise, but rather is the best way for your unit to meet its program objectives.  It is also a fundamental part of your Journey To Excellence (JTE) and in order to qualify for the bronze, silver, or gold level of Quality Unit award. Make adult training an integral part of your unit’s annual program plan, so that you will always have on hand a number of leaders with the right training qualifications to conduct all your activities

Online Training

All Scouters are encouraged to create a My.Scouting account and access online training through the My.Scouting portal. Credit for this training will be recorded on each Scouters training record upon completion. It will also appear in your unit report. Simply visit My.Scouting.org and follow the directions. You’ll only need to register once and you will have access to great Scouting resources there after.

Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader

If you had a magic wand, would you use it to make the Scouting program better and more fun for youth so they stayed in Scouting longer, so it had a larger impact on their lives? What if the same magic wand made leadership roles easier, more rewarding, and led to better retention among adult leaders? Would using that magic wand be a top priority?

Well, such a magic wand does exist—in the form of the learning programs for leaders in the Boy Scouts of America.

Common sense tells us that training is important, and research shows the importance of trained leaders. A trained leader is knowledgeable and more confident in the role being performed. Trained leaders exhibit a knowledge and confidence that is picked up by people around them. Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, leader tenure, youth tenure, safety, and a whole lot more. A trained leader is better prepared to make the Scouting program all it can be!

These pages contain many of the “magic wands” and resources. Scout them out!
