Take a Hike on the
Training Trail at
National Capital Area Council’s
Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow!
IMPORTANT POW WOW UPDATE: REGISTER NOW
While total enrollment numbers have been fairly consistent, each year participant registrations for Pow Wow have been trending later and later. This registration delay puts Pow Wow in jeopardy: without registrations on the books ahead of the event, we can’t plan appropriately or even guarantee the space.
If you’re planning on attending–and you NEED to attend because this is THE Cub Scout training event of the year–we ask that you please register ASAP to help us guarantee delivery of NCAC’s largest and most successful Cub Scout training program. Your Packs deserve trained leaders, and Pow Wow is at the heart of that. Please register by October 10th, and help us to ensure that Cub Scouts across our council will be participating in the best program possible under the most prepared leadership.
Thank you for all that you do for Scouting. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Pow Wow.

Den Chief Training … What’s That? We offering Den Chief Training for Boy Scouts who want to help Cub Scout leaders with their dens or pack programs. Leaders who want to learn what a Den Chief can do are welcome to attend, too. There will be a Trading Post with all sorts of Cub Scout items to purchase … so extra pocket money will come in handy to make your Trading Post purchase.

Some Helpful Hints about registration from the Pow Wow Chairman:
- Although you can select your classes “on the fly”, it is strongly suggested that you review the 2018 Course Descriptions and Course Schedule before you make your selections. Be sure to have a back-up course selected for each of your first choice course selections just in case your first choice course selection is not available.
- If you do not see a course session on the registration form, the course is full and not available. Sorry!
– IMPORTANT: When making class selections, please make note of the time and the duration of the course. Multi-session courses may not end at the time another course session begins. For example, 90 minute courses may not start or end on the hour.
– Not all courses will allow the same number of participants. Enrollment is determined by the size of the classroom and topic.
– You cannot change your class choices after you’ve completed registration. Changes can be made only on the day of the event, but the course you want may not be available. Take extra time and care when planning your sessions and selecting the courses you want to take.
– REGISTER EARLY to get the best event price and course selections.
– To get the most from Pow Wow have all the members of your group select different courses. Then, you can share handouts and class notes when you get home.
Don’t forget it’s ‘Bring a Can Saturday”. What that all about?
This year’s Pow Wow community service project is to help our local food banks feed the needy. We ask that you bring one or more cans containing a food item (green beans, corn, peas, soups of all kinds, etc.) We will have bins there for your contribution. We sure would like to see all of them overflowing! But, please no food stuffs in glass containers or boxes.
