Scouting for Food Key Dates 2016:
11/5 Bags out
11/12 Bags collected
As you begin your fall meetings, I urge you to prepare for the fall Scouting for Food campaign by making sure your unit has identified a parent to serve as Unit SFF Chair who we can contact about plans and updates. We have lined up our council sponsors and ordered bags, and are now entering the promotional phase. More information will be coming out at the September Roundtable, and bags will be distributed by your DE In time for your October Roundtable.
Please also urge your SFF Chair to monitor unit participation and “Be Prepared!” to report to the council on all food collected. Receiving prompt updates on the food collected and hours worked helps us give you credit for your efforts.
Service Hour Reporting
As always, please remember that your unit should be reporting all of your service hours on the JTE website, using the same unit account that you use to report advancement. Not only is it required for unit, district and council JTE results, but it is important to the council that we be able to demonstrate our community contributions. Reporting is easier than ever: there is a report button on the front page of the council website that leads directly to the online form. Please urge all units to participate in community service projects, and to report them at the JTE website. We know there are plenty of unrecognized service projects out there, and we would like to be able to brag about them.
Thanks for your efforts, and have a great Scouting year!
Yours in Scouting,
Chair, Activities & Civic Service Committee
