New programs released this month!Airsoft-small

The BSA Shooting Sports webpage has been updated with the 2016 revision to the BSA Shooting Sports Manual and the new Multigun Airsoft program. Additional Programs will be released in mid-March, these include Cowboy Action shooting, Pistol Markmanship and Safety Program for Boy Scouts, Chalkball and Scholastic Pistol for Venturing. NRA Training-502016 NRA Rifle and Shotgun Instructor Training courses for only $100 Nationwide

BSA National Camping School LogoBSA and the NRA have teamed up together to offer not only low cost courses for National Camping School participants but also to any volunteer in a local council. These NCS Pre-course NRA Instructor training that are in every BSA area in the nation including Hawaii. The package includes NRA Basic Instructor Training, NRA Rifle Instructor, NRA Shotgun Instructor, meals, housing, and NRA certifications. All this for only $100! Participants must take the entire package to be eligible. You must contact your local council to register for the training. Local councils will be billed by BSA National for your training. This package costs over $700 on the commercial market. GROW your group of local NRA instructors in your council, now is the time to do it! Your local council will be billed for the NRA training.

New NRA Pistol Instructor Training for BSA

NRA has released the new NRA Basic of Pistol Shooting Course and NRA Instructor Pistol Shooting Course. The NRA Basic of Pistol Shooting is a two-part course consisting of an e-learning portion (completed online-in your own timeframe) and a hands-on practical portion conducted at a range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA-Certified Instructor. The course is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. Read More…

Volunteers wanting to become NRA instructors for BSA must take the Phase 1 of the
Basic of Pistol Shooting Course. Volunteers wanting to take NRA Pistol Instructor training will register and pay online at onlinetraining.nra.org.

This process is effective immediately. The old course can no longer be taught by NRA Training Counselors.

More information will be coming regarding how this affects the BSA Boy Scout Pistol and Marksmanship Safety Training program when it gets released later this month.

2016 National Camping Schools

The shooting sports section of the 2016 National Camping School has been changed. We will be teaching the following programs during school. Chalk-ball, Airsoft Multigun, Cowboy Action Shooting, NRA Pistol, NRA Muzzleloading Rifle, NRA Range Safety Officer, NRA Chief Range Safety Officer ( for those who are already NRA Range Safety Officers), USA Archery Level 1 and other BSA relevant classes. Students wishing to attend must now be NRA Rifle and Shotgun qualified before attending.
