James E. West Fellowship Program

James. E. West was the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America, a position he held for more than three decades. A West Fellowship is available for gifts of cash or marketable securities designated to the Council endowment fund. Donors may make cumulative gifts to reach the levels beyond Bronze membership. 

$1,000+ Bronze Member−Brick, certificate, bronze pin

$5,000+ Silver Member−Brick, certificate, silver pin

$10,000+ Gold Member−Brick, certificate, gold pin

$15,000+ Diamond Member−Brick, certificate, diamond pin

By making an outright contribution to the James E. West Fellowship through the purchase of a brick, your gift will become a part of the of National Capital Area Council’s Endowment Fund and benefit the Scouts of our communities for the future. The gift should be in addition to, and not replace or diminish, the donor’s annual Friends of Scouting support. 

Recognition includes a uniform knot with appropriate gift designation pin and certificate, along with a brick in the Alice S. Marriott patio or at the Camp William B. Snyder patio. Recognition items will be received in the following calendar year at the Endowment Celebration.

Recognition Opportunities

 

THE ALICE S. MARRIOTT PATIO

Members of the Marriott family have been visionaries for the National Capital Area Council Scouting for decades. Alice S. Marriott’s volunteerism is remembered at the Alice S. Marriott patio located at the Marriott Service Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The bricks in the patio commemorate individuals who have helped steer Scouts along the right trail. Each brick signifies a minimum gift of $1,000.

CAMP WILLIAM B. SNYDER BRICK PLAZA

Through a very generous gift, William B. Snyder was instrumental in the purchase of Camp Snyder from the Walt Disney Company in 1997. Camp Snyder has been a wonderful place for young people to enjoy. West Fellowship donors may elect to have their brick placed at the patio at Camp William B. Snyder.

ROBERT & DEE LEGGETT ENDOWMENT GARDEN

Bob and Dee Leggett have long supported the National Capital Area Council Scouting with volunteerism and financial support. Within the Alice S. Marriott Patio, the Robert & Dee Leggett Endowment Garden includes a display of flowers and a monument engraved with the names of Scouting’s major supporters.

GOSHEN SCOUT RESERVATON

Goshen Scout Reservation has long been a wonderful place for young people to enjoy. Over the years, thousands of Scouts and Scouters have been a part of its rich Scouting history. The name of an individual who contribute to the Goshen Scout Reservation will be engraved on the plaque located at Goshen Scout Reservation. Contributions remain part of the Goshen Endowment Fund.
