What is the STEM Van?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The STEM Van is a mobile classroom designed to deliver fun, exciting, educational programs on these subjects. It contains a full A/V system, portable generator and enough supplies and equipment to conduct programs on everything from insect study to robotics to rocketry!
Why does the DC Metro Area need the STEM Van?
STEM is becoming an increasingly important skill set for young people entering the workforce.
The STEM Van helps ensure local youth have access to resources on these vital subjects beyond
what their schools may be able to provide.
Who made the STEM Van possible?
The STEM Van is supported by the generosity of local businesses and sponsors. The major sponsors are: Meg & Norm Augustine, BSA National Foundation, General Dynamics, & Lincoln Electric.
Where does the STEM Van go?The STEM Van will visit schools, county fairs, Scouting events and other community programs
throughout the DC metro area. A large part of its mission is to provide supplementary STEM
programs to underfunded schools that cannot afford all the scientific equipment they need.
