NCAC Scouting Challenge
The NCAC announced the NCAC Scouting Challenge in January 1, 2012 and it runs through December 31, 2015. This opportunity for Scouts (Tiger Cub, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing) and Scouters consists of four separate challenges:
Challenge 1: I'm Prepared
Challenge 2: I'm Eco-Friendly
Challenge 3: I'm Fit
Challenge 4: I'm Connected
Each challenge can be tackled by a unit as a group or as an individual Scout. Once a Challenge level is completed, the paperwork is turned into your unit Advancement Chairperson, who will, in turn, send it to their District Advancement Chair for approval and recording/tracking. The District Advancement Chair will present the Scout with a certificate entitling them to purchase a special patch (part of a larger five-piece patch) from the front desk at the Marriott Scout Service Center (MSSC).
The center patch is available for purchase without a certificate at the MSSC. Each of the other four patch segments can only be purchased upon presenting a certificate from district at the MSSC. The patch for each level of challenge will be outlined in a different color to highlight when the challenge was completed. Any Scout who earns the right to wear all four patches in the same Scouting year (e.g., as a Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Boy/Varsity Scout, Venturer/SeaScout, Scouter) will also receive a special neck ribbon with medal, to be presented by the NCAC Program Impact department.
