National Order of the Arrow
High Adventure Program Scholarship Information
The Amangamek Wipit High Adventure Program Scholarship was created in hopes to provide monetary support to Arrowmen within the Lodge by paying a partial or full scholarship to one of the Order of the Arrow High Adventure Programs at Philmont Scout Ranch, Northern Tier, Sea Base, and The Summit Bechtel Reserve.
It is the purpose of the Lodge to provide a monetary value for Arrowmen in hopes that it will enlighten their Order of the Arrow experience through participation in one of the these programs. All programs are the epitome of what the OA represents. Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service. It is for this reason that Lodge and its leadership find it so imperative to not only support these programs but to also offer financial assistance to the Arrowmen of Amangamek Wipit to help pay for the program costs.
Although it is not a requirement to be an active member in the order of the Arrow to participate in any of the OA High Adventure Programs, the Lodge High Adventure Scholarship is reserved for those individuals who exhibit interest and service as well as a future commitment to the Order of the Arrow in their home lodges. It is expected of each recipient to continue his service in the OA as well as bring his enthusiasm gained from the program back to his council, lodge, chapter, and unit. Each recipient will be required at the end of his experience to provide the Lodge with an account of his experiences that can be posted on the Lodge website for recognition and promotion of the programs and the scholarship.
The minimum amount awarded to a recipients will be $100. This amount may be increased depending on the cost of the program attended and the need of the applicant. The amount awarded will not exceed $500. The Key 9 (Lodge Chief, Lodge Vice Chief of Operations, Lodge Vice Chief of Communications and Administration, Lodge Vice Chief of Membership and Finance, and the five Area Chiefs) will decide the recipients and amounts awarded at the May Lodge Officers Meeting. If a member of the Key 9 wishes to apply for a Scholarship, he must exclude himself from the decision process. An applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Must have attended a Lodge event in 2013-2014.
- Must be in good standing with the Lodge.
- Must be admitted to an OA High Adventure Program prior to applying for a OAHA Scholarship.
Applicants will be notified of their selection no later than May 31. The scholarship money will be sent from the Lodge's host council in the form of a reimbursement check after the recipient has attended the program unless set up otherwise in conjunction with the Lodge Key 3.
