March 8, 2014 – Big Time racing comes to the Colonial District !
Scouts arrived with cars constructed for speed and show. Every conceivable design and even some that no grownup could ever think of!
After a long and arduous process of studying and judging the presented exemplars, the following Show Car outcomes were achieved.

The Colonial District Pinewood Derby Committee wishes to give a Great Big Thank You to Pack 118, Pack 680 and Pack 867 for bringing and manning the race tracks that made the racing possible. Each year Packs volunteer to support this event and without their generosity this event would not be possible. If your Pack hasn’t volunteered recently please consider it for next year.
The top three finishers in each rank advanced to the final race. The 15 fastest cars in the Colonial District went head to head. The results of that final race are in the next table.

And in conclusion we must thank the Mount Vernon Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints whose generosity makes the center available to the Colonial District. The sincere Thanks of the Pinewood Derby team go to Mr Larry Carr for his support of the event and to the scout units at the Stake Center who come in Saturday to provide food and refreshments to our band of hungry racers.
Financial assistance for the event is provided by the Old Town Hardware operated by Rich Heilman (a Pack 801 parent alumnus) who collects donations during his pinewood workshop events in January to support the District Derby.
