Archery Merit Badge Shoot 0 A. Nelson An Archery Merit Badge shoot will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Archery Range at Camp William B. Snyder in Haymarket, Virginia.  This event is for all Occoquan District Boy Scouts that have taken the Archery Merit Badge class at resident camp or elsewhere and were not able to qualify in the shooting portion. All scouts must have completed all other portions of the MB as we will not be working on any other aspects of the MB.  This will NOT be an open shoot for other Scouts or Scouters. The intent is to give each scout that has a partial a chance to get a possible completion on their Archery MB.  Five Scouts per session will have the range for forty-five minutes of shooting and instruction as needed. Scouts will be using a recurve bow with a finger release only. To qualify, scouts must shoot a BSA Scout field round of 14 targets and make a score of 80 points or greater.  If a scout has his own equipment, it is subject to inspection and approval by me or another USA Archery Certified Instructor on site. If a compound bow is used the scoring will be 14 targets and make a score of 90 points. No compound bows will be supplied.  The range will open at 9:00 am and run until approximately 2:30 pm. Scouts may come as a group or with a parent. A water bottle is required for all scouts to keep hydrated. Comfort during a shoot is important, henceforth the scout does not need to be in their Field Uniform, but a troop t-shirt or BSA Activity Uniform is preferred along with an appropriate hat and or sunglasses to keep sun out of the eyes.  The shooting times will be as follows: 9:00 am to 9:50 am 10:00 am to 10:50 am 11:00 am to 11:50 am Lunch Break 12:30 pm to 1:20 pm 1:30 pm to 2:20 pm   More times may be scheduled if needed and the times may vary once I get a count of scouts that plan to attend. A sixth and extra target will be open for a scout to continue past his slotted time, if necessary.  Please, contact me with the following information: First and Last Name of Scout Scout's Troop Number Scout or Parent's E-mail Scout or Parent's Phone Number Scoutmaster's Name Scoutmaster's E-mail Scoutmaster's Phone Number 1st and 2nd time slot preferred   Unfortunately, NCAC has a rental fee for use of their archery equipment. Therefore, a donation of $5 per scout is requested when presenting their Blue Card at registration for the shoot.   All current USA Archery Level 1 or higher are requested to assist in the event. Any Archery RSO with current training is welcome to assist during the event as well. In fact, it is imperative that we do get assistance on the range or the event may have to be canceled for the safety of our scouts.  If you have any questions, would like to participate or assist, please feel free to contact me.  Alice Nelson 703-580-0226
