Are you a BSA canoeing merit badge counselor who must find a certificated helper to supervise your canoeing activities?
The NCAC Aquatics Committee in cooperation with the NCAC Advancement and Recognition Committee (ARC) is offering assessment sessions conducted by the American Canoeing Association where you can demonstrate your canoeing and instructional competence and you won't have to look for that additional help any longer. This is an ACA Level 1:Introduction to Canoeing Skills Assessment (see http://c.ymcdn.com/sites/www.americancanoe.org/resource/resmgr/sei-courses/l1_ic_assessment.pdf for specifics skills that are reviewed).
Wear clothes and shoes that can (and will) get wet, a towel and change of clothes, sunscreen, hat, sun-glasses, water bottle, and lunch. Dress for the weather –bring rain gear if necessary. Optional – bring your own paddling gear.Upon successful completion of the assessment you will be issued an ACA L1 assessment form that can be used to demonstrate compliance with BSA Canoeing Merit Badge Counselor training requirements. If you do not pass the assessment, we will furnish information on how you can get additional skills training.
