William G. (Woody) Sutton, CAE, is president and CEO of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA), the premier trade association representing more than 580 member organizations in the $725 billion equipment finance sector. He is also president of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Foundation (ELFF). In this capacity, he coordinates forward-looking research, the primary mission of ELFF. He has worked tirelessly as an advocate for American business—both as Assistant Secretary of Commerce and as a leader in the association community. Woody grew up in Georgia and participated in Scouting as a youth, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. The values promoted by Scouting, such as "service over self” and "doing one’s duty to God and Country” have been the hallmarks of Woody’s military, government and association career. For these reasons and many others, the National Capital Area Council will be honoring Woody with the 10th Annual Financial Services "Good Scout” Award.
The Financial Services "Good Scout” Dinner recognizes and honors an outstanding leader in the financial services community who exemplifies the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law in his or her daily life. This is a widely attended event by top leaders in the financial services community and supports the character-building programs of the National Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.
