Chain Bridge District Interpreter Strip Certification Day
LDS Scotts Run 1325 Scotts Run Rd McLean, Virginia 22102 United States
Online registration is closed.
Chain Bridge is hosting an Interpreter Strip Certification Day on Saturday September 14, 2013, from 2 to 5 pm at the LDS Scotts Run facility in McLean, Virginia. Although under BSA rules no formal testing or independent certification is required to wear an interpreter strip on your uniform, this event is for Scouts and Scouters who wish to take advantage of an organized program like those offered by the International Staff at National Jamborees, bringing together language specialists for many different languages. The requirements for earning the Interpreter Strip can be found at the following BSA website:
Participants must come prepared to meet all the requirements.
Attire: Class A uniform
Free of charge
Those who successfully complete the certification process will be given a certificate to take back to their Unit Advancement Chair, for purchase and awarding of the interpreter strip
Pre-registration strongly recommended (walk-ins will only be accepted on an 'as-available basis', with no guarantee of coverage for any particular language)
Be on time - program begins promptly at 2pm
Adults volunteers are still welcome for 'Language Specialists' who are proficient enough in a foreign language to test to the BSA requirements, with a mandatory meeting at 1:30 pm that day. Please e'mail Jay Eidson at email@example.com to volunteer.
