Leadership Training for Scouts

Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops, formerly known as Junior Leadership Training,  teaches Scouts with current leadership positions about what is expected in their roles and offers guidance on how they can be successful leaders in those roles. 

 

The course will be held on October 26th with registrations due by October 21st.

The course location is Pine Cliff Park in Frederick.

The course will run from 8am to ~ 12pm.  Cost is $5.

Leave No Trace Trainer Course

This course is offered to train Boy Scouts (age 14 and older), Venturers, and adults (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venture) to serve as Leave No Trace Trainers for Scouting and the wider public. For a Scout to serve in the Troop Leave No Trace Trainer position, he must complete the Leave No Trace Trainer Course. For that reason and since space is limited, Scouts will be given priority for registration.

Date: October 25 (6pm) - October 27 (10am)

Location:   Camp Snyder

Cost:   $50

 

Registration deadline is October 11th.

Fall Leader Specific Training

Your Appalachian Trail District Training Corps (ATTC) is offering several leader specific courses this fall.

 

1.  Cub Scout Leader Specific Training at Roundtable on October 8th:  Wolf/Bear and Tiger Den Leader 

 

2.  Boy Scout Leader Specific Training on October 12th

2a.  ADDED to October 12th:  DEN CHIEF training, 8:30 -12:30PM

 

3.  Cub Scout Leader Specific Training at Roundtable on November 12th:  Webelos, Cubmaster and Cub Committee Member training

CPR and Wilderness First Aid Offered

The AT District is offering two essential, Red Cross certification courses:  

  • CPR for Adult, Child and Infant with AED, chest compression and rescue breathing
  • Wilderness First Aid.  This course fulfills the first aid requirement for BSA High Adventure bases and activities as well as the Venturing Core Requirement for First Aid. Must be 14 years or older to attend.

The CPR course is scheduled for November 2nd.

 

The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is scheduled for December 7th and 14th.  Attendance both days is required.  Also, you must have a valid CPR with AED certification to take WFA.
